![]() This brings us to 2022 and the launch of the Hyperice Normatec 3 Legs at nearly half the price of previous versions, one that’s much more competitive within the market. In 2020, Normatec became part of Hyperice, a larger company known for making a variety of recovery tools. Meanwhile, similar equipment became increasingly available for half the cost, and household compression boots became a bit more mainstream, at least among us runners. After Normatec paved the way, other brands entered the space and introduced similar equipment at a significantly lower price, though still very expensive to those of us whose recovery equipment includes a basic foam roller or maybe a tube of Arnica.Īlthough Normatec held its position as a premium brand, its system remained unattainable for most folks. Using dynamic air compression to support circulation isn’t new, but Normatec became a name brand among runners when they started marketing the technology to athletes more than a decade ago. But the system was also bulky - where would I put that giant control unit in my tiny two-room apartment? Although I couldn’t fathom having my own personal set of compression boots, I was grateful to have access to them through my gym and have always enjoyed the therapeutic experience of the compression boots on my legs. Part of that reasoning was the price - a set used to cost upward of $1,500. While I’ve gotten to know compression boots over the past several years through my local gym, they were never something I imagined having in my home. Its design is cleaner, sleeker, more compact, and generally more approachable and user-friendly. I mean, I think it’s awesome. The recently launched Hyperice Normatec 3 Legs ($800) are the newest iteration of the brand’s compression therapy boots, and I’m impressed by how different the system looks now than just a few years ago. I started taking it on the road and everything. “I started using it, my legs started feeling better and I didn’t stop. “I’m always open to things that can help,” James said. “…the NormaTec…quickly became a part of my daily routine with our players for both immediate injury management and post-operative care, and I am more than pleased with the results”Įd Lacerte, Head Athletic Trainer/Physical Therapist, Boston Celtics Jason Biles, MPT, ATC, CSCS, PES, CES, Director of Performance Rehabilitation, Houston Rockets “Whether the athlete is healthy or injured, the customizable compression the NormaTec provides is vital to achieving optimal results in recovery from training or decreasing post injury inflammation.” Jim McCrossin, Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach, Philadelphia Flyers ![]() The NormaTec achieved that extraordinary distinction because it just works that well.” It’s very rare in my profession that any training or recovery modality is so readily incorporated by everyone on the team. “NormaTec’s cutting-edge technology was a lifesaver for the Flyers this season. Thus NormaTec developed and patented Sequential Pulse Technology, and the NormaTec Recovery System was born.” After trying every available compression pump on the market with only unimpressive clinical results, NormaTec’s founder realized that the key to advancing the technology of external compression is improving the massage pattern. The concept of using external compression to aid the body with its normal circulatory processes has been around since the 1960s however, the science of compression had no major technological advances during the first 40 years of its use. ![]() “NormaTec’s founder, a physician bioengineer (MD, PhD), recognized the powerful potential of external dynamic compression and its crucial role in healing and recovery.
